Ways to keep your Iman in check

Bismillah,

While sitting with my sisters in Islam, we had a brief talk about what we do when we feel our iman is low.. An increase in the decrease in the level of Iman in one’s heart is pretty normal – it happens to everyone. Some days we feel very zealous about worship and other days, it’s difficult to even concentrate during Salah.

No matter how low you feel your iman is never lose hope, always strive for the best and inshaAllAh you will succeed. Ensure you are working on increasing the level of Iman in your heart and your interest in the religion will inevitably grow as a result. You can try the following to help increase the level of faith in your heart.

1) Do dhikr. Select a time during the day when you will recite a certain supplication (such as Istighfar, sending Salawat upon the Prophet SAW, Subhan’Allah, Alhamdulillah, La illaha illa anta..) and do this every day. It will help keep your Iman stable.

2) Listen to reminders. Do it even if you don’t feel like it because once you listen to a reminder with a sincere intention, it will improve your Iman and make you more conscious of Allah SWT.

3) Listen to Tafsir (explanation) of the Quran. Again, if your intention is sincere, it will undoubtedly increase your Iman and you will discover the treasures that the Quran holds. Once you understand what you’re reading or listening to you will more likely implement it to your daily life as well as being more continue about what each Surah is talking about.

4) Try to establish Salah with khushoo and do all the Sunnah and Nawafil Salah as well along with the obligatory rakahs. Make an intention and don’t rush your salah, make salah your first priority as It will help you draw closer to Allah SWT.

5) Ask Allah SWT to help you increase your Iman by making dua. Even if you are not saying it, Allah knows what is within your heart and he may answer it for you- never ever stop making dua.

6) Establish Tahajjud salah. You will see that when you wake yourself up for the sake of Allah SWT alone in the middle of the night (or maybe 20-25 minutes before Fajr adhan), it will just be you and Allah SWT. There won’t be anyone around to disturb you – sometimes not even your own thoughts. It can be very comforting and once you establish tahajjud salah, you will have a sense of purpose throughout the rest of the day because you will have that mindset throughout the rest of the day of doing things to try to increase your Iman.

7) Keep a voluntary fast for the sake of Allah SWT. Fasting increases the believers in Iman. When you are fasting you try your best to stay away from anything that is bad and only surround yourself with good – this contributes to increasing your Iman as you will be conscious of everything that you’re doing.

8) Make a list of a ‘good day’ in which you do everything for the sake of Allah SWT and measure this against your actual day to see where you are lacking and what are the things stopping you from getting closer to Allah SWT. Conversely, you can also make a list of all the things you do as a Muslim that you shouldn’t be doing. By doing one of these two things, you are planting a seed in your heart – if you water this seed continuously by doing good and stay away from evil/sin, there is no way that the level of Iman in your heart won’t increase.

9) Keep the company of good friends – stay away from bad company. Don’t put yourself in situations that can directly have an adverse effect on your Iman.-learn to say NO.

10) Help people. If someone asks you for a favour or for help, don’t ever return them empty handed – no matter how small the thing they are asking you for is – grant their request and be conscious of doing it for the sake of Allah SWT.

In order for us to see results, we should all try to do the above on a regular basis InshaAllah. First, before we do anything, we should take a good look at our lifestyles and try to stop doing things that are a direct cause of a reduce to our Iman. Once you do the above, you will automatically want to change and become a better Muslims not letting anything or anyone come between you and your Lord. May Allah make us amongst those who can fight our Nafs between the evils of this Dunya and may we find it easy for us to say no to situations in which we know our faith will be tested. Ameen.

Oh Allah, Let us reach Ramadan!

With Ramadan around the corner we need to prepare for it physically and mentally InshaAllah. First by asking everyone we’ve ever wronged for forgiveness.

If I ever said anything that has hurt you or upset you in any way whether I did it on purpose or not I sincerely ask you from the bottom of my heart to please forgive me! And if you feel like I did something that you’re having a hard time forgiving, please message me privately and we will sort it out.

Even though Ramadan is just a glimpse away, we’re not promised to reach it. Train your soul from this moment my dear sisters and brothers. If you still owe some days from the last Ramadan then hurry up and fast them NOW! And if you don’t owe days, then at least do voluntary fasts. Start from now and fast every Mondays and Thursdays InshaAllah.

May Allah allow us to reach the blessed month and may this month be the one that secures us an entrance through ar-Rayyan in Jannah. Ameen ❤

BLINDNESS OF THE HEART

Bismillah,

It’s so crazy how easy it is to lose focus in this dunya. The problem is we always get caught up in the luxury of dunya we often forget the Akhirah. We need to look inside our hearts and see the bigger picture.

Allah says:

‘For indeed, It is not the eyes that are blind, but the hearts’ {22:46}

This ayah alone shows that our hearts are too focused on everything else other than the Deen. We love this and we love that. We even cry over worldly matters to a point where we almost choke, because we love it with everything inside of us.

When have we cried for Allah like that?

And you know what’s sad? We want the change, because none of us likes the condition that we’re in, but we expect Allah to compromise with us. Like, we want Jannah but we’re asking for a part of this dunya at the same time – it doesn’t really work like that you see.

Again Allah says:

‘Verily Allah won’t change the condition of a people until they change what is within themselves…’ {13:11}

We need to empty out our hearts, and throw away everything in it from this dunya and only leave room for Allah. If you’re focus is Allah’s pleasure then I guarantee you that you will finally be at ease.

Don’t lose focus.
It’s only a matter of days before we leave this world. And for some of us – Only a matter of minutes.

LOVING THE CREATION MORE THAN THE CREATOR???

Bismillah,

It wasn’t until today that I really understood the saying “Follow your heart, but take your brain with you”.

A talk with a sister today made me really put myself to account. Even though the subject was something totally different than what my thoughts are right now, it was something she said that made me ponder over this specific matter.

She said:

‘When you love someone, you would want to see that person every single day and when you miss them you would call them every single day…just to hear them talk, so why aren’t we calling to Allah everyday and listening to His words everyday?’

The big question in our talk was, is there something wrong with our love towards the Creator? And wallahi the answer is yes. Let me tell you why – If you have someone in your life that is pulling you away from Allah and you have someone in your life that your stupid heart, chooses over Allah and His commands, then yes wallahi there’s something wrong with our love to Allah! We are not sincere!!

Why let your heart ruin your Akhirah for you? You love that person? To hell with such a filthy love, because wallahi if there’s anything pure in it, then it wouldn’t have made you disobey Allah and if there was anything pure in it then it wouldn’t have been in a state of Haraam for you.

Leave the things you know displeases Allah for the sake of Allah and no one else! Your love, loyalty and your weakness should all be for Allah alone. Not for someone or something that make you think that your sin is not that big of a deal because we were created weak and error-free!! Wallahi, this is just the deception of this world and this is just one of the tricks the cursed devil uses against us to make us disobey Allah and one of the worst sins a slave can commit is a sin that he or she is trying to belittle or justify.

Take care of your Soul, for you do not own it! It WILL be brought to account, and NOTHING is worth or will ever be worth risking Jannah for… Don’t be stupid – Save yourself. Wallahi whatever is holding you back from succeeding in Akhirah let it go! Even if it’s a love that keeps you up at night, ITS NOT WORTH IT!

If you truly love Allah, then you wouldn’t ever let anyone OR anything come before Him. And especially not someone who doesn’t even fear Him enough to stay away from that sin himself. Put yourself to account.

I pray that Allah guides us to the straight path, and not make love for his creations and this dunya our biggest concerns. I also ask Allah to not make our love for his creations exceed the love that we should have for Him.

Eyebrows on fleek???

Hmm.. so lets talk about the phenomenon of having “fleeky”eyebrows. This is a topic many ignore or know of but don’t take serious. We women are ordered not to pluck or thread our eyebrows so why is it so hard that we ignore this hokum (order)?

It was narrated by Abd-Allaah ibn Mas’ood (may Allaah be pleased with him) who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: “Allah has cursed the woman who does tattoos and the one who has them done, the woman who plucks eyebrows (al-naamisah) and the one who has it done (al-mutanammisah), and the one who files her teeth for the purpose of beauty, altering the creation of Allaah.”

(Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 5931; Muslim, 2125)

Allah has made each of his creations different, some with eyebrows that are thick and some with eyebrows that are oddly shaped. This is our beauty, why alter the creation of Allah? So why is it that we are so ungrateful with how Allah has created us that we do such a sin?  Wallahi, we should be patient and not transgress his sacred limits for the sake of our looks. Think of it this way… even if the whole world were to tell you that you looked beautiful with your eyebrows shaped, would it even be worth being cursed for?? Something so easy and simple could be so heavy on the scale SubhanAllah.

If you’re a sister who does her eyebrows willingly, I ask Allah to guide and forgive you, and if you’re a sister who was not aware of this, then may this be of benefit to you.

Loving for the sake of Allah <3

To truly love for the sake of Allah means to extend support and assistance to each other and to love good for one another. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “None of you believes until he loves for his brother what he loves for himself.” [Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim]

The description of people who love for the sake of Allah :

“Among Allah’s servants are people who are neither prophets nor martyrs, but whom the prophets and martyrs will deem fortunate because of their high status with Allah.” The Companions asked, “O Messenger of Allah! Inform us of who they are.” The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) told them that they are people who loved each other for Allah’s sake, even without being related to one another or being tied to one another by the exchange of wealth.

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went on to describe their great reward on the Day of Resurrection: “By Allah, their faces will be luminous and they will be upon light. They will feel no fear when the people will be feeling fear, and they will feel no grief when the people will be grieving.” Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) read the verse: [Behold! Verily on the friends of Allah there is no fear, nor shall they grieve] (Yunus 10:62). (Abu Dawud)

Subhan’Allah, so with such encouragement why do we ‘sisters’ continue to struggle with this? May Allah grant us all homes in the lofty gardens of Firdous, may Allah remove any sickness that has turned us away from the believing women and turned them away from us. I ask Allah to make us deeply understand that we are one body and that we are not true believers until we love each other for the sake of the most beloved, who has ordered us with the ties of sisterhood and not to break the bonds of sisterhood. Sisterhood my beloved sisters is greater than the small circles of friends we keep. I ask Allah to make us sisters and of those who will receive the glade tidings when Allah will ask on the Day of Judgment: “Where are those who loved each other for the sake of My glory? Today, on a day when there is no shade but Mine, I shall shade them with My shade.” (Muslim) Ameen. ❤

On Fridays…we read Surah Al-Kahf

Bismillah,

Abu Hurairah (RA) narrated that Allah’s Messenger (PBUH) said,

“The best day on which the sun rises is Friday; on it Adam (AS) was created; and on it, he descended on earth; and on it, his repentance was accepted; and on it, he died; and on it, the Hour will be established…..”
(Hadith No. 1046, Book of Salat, Sunan Abu Dawud, Vol.1).

SubhanAllah, we forget so often that Friday is the day we should be remembering Allah as much as possible (not that you shouldn’t any other day). The day of Jumu’ah has so much significance to our lives. We are also told in the Quran the importance of Jumu’ah and remembering Allah often that day so that we may be successful.

“O you who believe! When the call is proclaimed for Jumu’ah (Friday prayer), come fast to the remembrance of Allah. When the prayer is ended, you may disperse through the land, and seek the Bounty of Allah (by working), and remember Allah much: that you may be successful.” Qur’an, 62:9-10

InshaAllah let start to make a habit and read Surah Al-Kahf either during the night or the day of Jumu’ah. The night of Jumu’ah starts from sunset on Thursday, and the day of Jumu’ah ends at sunset.

It was narrated that Ibn ‘Umar (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: “The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: ‘Whoever reads Soorat al-Kahf on the day of Jumu’ah, a light will shine for him from beneath his feet to the clouds of the sky, which will shine for him on the Day of Resurrection, and he will be forgiven (his sins) between the two Fridays.’” (al-Targheeb wa’l-Tarheeb, 1/298)

Subhan’Allah, it is a blessing and a mercy from Allah to have this surah as a protection from those days of fitnah and the trials of Dajjal that are yet to come.
